L'imitazione di pitture antiche o moderne, gli ingrandimenti confusi ricavati da piccole negative, la grana eccessiva e numerosi altri artifici cui oggi in fotografia si ricorre possono valere a sorprendere l'occhio, ma nulla possono creare. Io non ho mai creduto che la fotografia per elevarsi debba rinnegare la sua origine.

In fotografia, qualunque sia la tecnica adottata, le decisioni fondamentali riguardano l'immagine stessa: i motivi che hanno indotto il fotografo a scattarla e il suo aspetto. Certo la tecnica è importante, ma in fondo il massimo che può fare è contribuire a concretizzare un'idea o un'impressione.
